Caring for a child of a different faith: Muslim (MUSnexus)

Description
[This course will take about 1h30min to complete.]

This course is aimed at foster carers who are taking care of a Muslim child but don't share their religion. It should help you understand more about Islam, its key observances and how to support the child to maintain and develop their identity as a Muslim.

Muslims in the UK are from a wide range of cultural and national backgrounds, translating into many different traditions and languages. As there are so many ways of being Muslim, it is impossible to cover all the diversity of Islamic practices. Instead, this course is designed to cover the common points.

In this course, you will learn about:
- Islam, its history, its main observances and religious holidays.
- How to help a child maintain and develop their identity as a Muslim.
- How to protect them from racism, bullying and the risks of radicalisation.
- Elements to consider when raising a diverse family.
