Understanding tax in fostering (TAXnexus)

Description
[This course will take you about 45 min to complete.]

Doing one’s own tax return can be an unappealing and daunting task for many people. It can appear very complicated, but this course aims to demystify the process and explain any of the financial jargon you might encounter.

It is important as a foster carer to have a full understanding of your position as a self-employed person and to be organised each year with your tax return, whether you are filing your own return or someone like an accountant is doing it on your behalf. In this course, we will guide you through the process, from registering as self-employed right through to your filing your tax return.

Please note - this information is only a general guide. For advice on your specific situation, please consult an accountant.

In the course you will learn:
- How to register as self-employed
- Specific tax relief for foster carers
- How to file your tax self-assessment and paying your tax bill and National Insurance
